Hey there, adventurer! 🌟
Welcome back to the chronicles of my SEO journey. Remember yesterday when I mentioned we'd delve into "keywords"? Well, grab your treasure map because today, we're going on a keyword hunt!
First off, what on Earth is a keyword? Imagine you're in a massive library. There are countless books, but you're on a mission to find one on "how to bake the perfect chocolate cake." You're not going to read every book, right? You'll look for specific words or phrases in the index or ask the librarian. Those specific words are what we in the biz call "keywords."
Before diving in, I started by generating a long list of keyword ideas. Picture it as brainstorming for a screenplay—you don't just write the first scene; you jot down many ideas! Then, the filtering begins.
Choosing the right keywords is like picking the right bait for fishing. You need something that'll attract your ideal fish, err... I mean, client! This is where 'intent' comes into play. You want to think about why someone is searching for that term. Are they looking to buy or just browse? A quick tip: if the keyword includes words like "buy," "price," or "best," there's a good chance the searcher has their wallet in hand.
For instance, if my ideal client is a small business looking for a website revamp, I might target keywords like "small business website design" or "affordable SEO services." Instead of going broad like just "SEO," aim for what we call 'long-tail' keywords. Imagine you're a local bakery; instead of just "cakes," you'd go for "custom birthday cakes in Oxford." Specifics, my friends!
Now, back to my journey. I've crafted an awfully long and rather dull list of potential keywords. We're talking pages, people! But don't worry, I won't bore you with that. Instead, I'll be sifting through it to figure out which are the platinum hits and which are the one-hit wonders.
Over the next week, I'll share this keyword playlist with you. How cool is that? So, stick around for more SEO magic. Tomorrow, we're diving into the tools that make keyword research as easy as pie (and almost as satisfying).
Catch you on the flip side!
Cheers,
Andrew
